Thanks for all that you have done for me. When I started with you at Fitness Solutions I was in constant pain and unable to even sit in or get out of a chair without excruciating pain. Thanks to the ART techniques, massage therapy, and Personal Training exercise guidance from Mike, Chris, and Lisa, the various pains and the problems that caused them have been eliminated or substantially reduced. This has allowed me to increase the length of my bicycle rides from 40 miles to over 100 miles, and to be able to work out in the gym and continue my martial arts training.

Hi, my name is Angela, and I am a 26 year old teacher. I’ve always been the type of person you’d find in the gym, but, like many people, I began to get bored with my routine. That’s when I found Laraine and the rest of the staff at Fitness Solutions. I was originally planning to train for a couple of months, learn a few new exercises, and continue on with my own workouts. It’s been more than 3 years now and I can’t ever imagine life without training. Laraine, who I’ve trained with for 3 years, and Chris, who I’ve recently been training with, have not only given me the motivation I needed to lose 18 very stubborn pounds, but they’ve taught me so many innovative ways to work out and have pushed me to limits I didn’t know I had. I never enjoyed working out. I was about 30 pounds overweight. I am very grateful to the trainers at the Fitness Solutions gym. Not only are they great trainers but they are also great guys all around. I was in a very serious motor vehicle accident, and I was predicted never to walk again and to stay in a vegetative state. I was walking when I entered the gym, but it was with a cane. Thanks to Mike and Chris I am now cane free and I am also more independent. I am stronger, both upper and lower body and I am leaner. I was getting bigger after my accident because I couldn’t get any fitness in. Being that I couldn’t walk I couldn’t really do any cardio. Thanks to the help I received after joining the gym I am now walking on the treadmill and my balance has improved tremendously. I would recommend anyone to this gym because the two trainers are very knowledgeable and they are very dedicated to their profession and helping others. What I like about Fitness Solutions is that the trainers care about me as a person and my overall well being, in addition to my physical health. I like the fact that my fitness plan is designed specifically for ME, to meet my needs and goals. My plan changes every few weeks to keep it interesting, and to create more challenging workouts as I become more fit. There is not a “one size fits all” mentality at Fitness Solutions, which I find refreshing and really appreciate.
I also like the VO2 test that I took. The results help me understand how my calories are burned in relation to my heart rate, based on my particular body make-up. I have become more conscious of what it takes to get my body in the correct zone in order to make my workouts as effective as possible. I now have an extensive tracking spreadsheet that I use just for this purpose. The VO2 test is great to have when tracking this information for weight loss goals.
My trainers are more than just trainers to me, I think of them as friends…now this doesn’t mean that it’s not all down to business when it comes to my training, because we are very serious about getting me healthy. I have had the best time training at Fitness Solutions over the past year and a half. I have had some personal health problems over my time here and my trainers were there to support me in every way. I have laughed with them, cried with them, and conquered some of my weight issues. I am glad to have found such a treasure. Mike, Laraine and Chris, you are the best!
I have consistently worked out for over 10 years at traditional gyms. I have always maintained the same body weight and fitness level. However, all that changed two years ago when I started training with Mike at Fitness Solutions. Both he , and the staff there have constantly challenged me to work out harder then I ever have before, and push myself to new limits. I started taking Eric's kettlebell class in January of this year. What started as a one class a week workout has turned into an obsession. I now take class 2 days a week, and workout with my own kettlebells at home on my off days. Kettle bell training is the best unknown workout, and Fitness Solutions are on the foreground of introducing it to the area. Both the gains I have made working out at Fitness Solutions and the relationships I have made with the staff there, these are the most important aspects to me. The genuine kindness and friendship of everyone there will last longer in my life than any muscle or strength I have obtained.

It all started out because I did not want unsightly fat rolls to show in my wedding gown. It has gone WAY BEYOND that. I have been with Michael Rizk and his "state of the art" facility for about 3 years. I came to Fitness Solutions in June of 2008 after suffering from a severe back injury for 16 months. I herniated 2 discs in my lower back and was barely able to get dressed, sit, stand, walk, get in and out of a car, or do minor chores around the house, never mind workout and run as I had done consistently for years prior to my injury. Unfortunately, not only did I lose mobility and strength, but I also gained close to 15 lbs. I started working with Chris at Fitness Solutions twice a week with ART and stretching for 45 minute sessions. We gradually moved into improving motion and strength. I am now spending 10 minutes stretching and 35 minutes on weight training and other strength building exercises. Chris is the best! He is not only motivating and supportive; he is extremely knowledgeable and tuned in to my condition. I have always felt safe and confident in everything I do at Fitness Solutions. Now, I am back to using both the elliptical and running on the treadmill for a combined 45 minutes per day without pain in addition to weight training at home. I can not thank everyone enough, especially Chris, at Fitness Solutions. They have literally given me back one of the best aspects of my life: movement.

I came to FS with back pain and several issues with my left leg and foot. I hoped Mike could help with my ailments, but what I was really looking for was improved performance. For the 4 years before trying out the FS services, despite my all-out efforts, I could not break 20 minutes in a 5K race. It's an important goal for me and so year-round I persevered, improved my training workouts, lost weight, and kept plugging away at it. Nevertheless, with my busy schedule and aging body my times hit a plateau and injuries mounted. Finally, increasing back pain made me realize that I could use some help. Well I'm so happy to report that I signed up with Fitness Solutions and after several sessions I ran a 5K in 19:48. What a difference! After years of fighting, it came pretty easy. I believe the key difference is that Mike’s thorough analysis and planned series of sessions helped my stride function more efficiently... less stress on my muscles and joints. I continue to run sub-20 5K's and recently took 23 minutes off of my marathon PR! Not too long ago, I was diagnosed with a rare kidney disorder. My choices were either heavy medication or dialysis in 10 years. The medicine worked, but with much collateral damage to my muscles and bones. Over time, the pre-existing stress fracture in my lumbar spine wortened to the point where I could not run or ride my bike without pain.
After receiving over 100 prolotherapy injections, my sports physician recommended Fitness Solutions to strengthen my core and mechanics. The combination of Active Release Techniques (ART), kettlebells and flexibility exercises gave me a second chance in life. What was once a fading dream has become a reality: to train and one day compete in an Ironman Triathlon. More importantly, Mike helped me set a guiding example for my family, there is no success without struggle.
